<aside> 👉 This tutorial concerns Aiden’s new Matching interface, which is now available for early access. If the below screenshots don’t look familiar, you’re probably on the ‘old’ Matching interface. In that case, check Match products to answers.

Once your product catalogue is set up, you can start matching your products to the Q&A you created:

1. Learn the matching basics

Aiden's recommendations algorithm is based on scoring and weighing every single product in your catalogue. The score of each product is decided by you when you match the products to the answers.

Each product has to be scored as either a bad, neutral, good or perfect match for each answer from the Q&A. Here's what that means:

Cross → Bad match

A bad match means the selected products are a bad fit for the answer. They will be less likely to be shown in the advice if a customer gives this answer.

A bad match can also be used to fully exclude products from the advice.

Circle → Neutral match

A neutral match means the selected products are neither a bad nor a good fit for the answer. They will neither less nor more likely to be shown in the advice if a customer gives this answer.

Single check
Good match

A good match means the selected products are a good fit for the answer, but not perfect. They will be slightly more likely to be shown in the advice if a customer gives this answer.

Double check
Perfect match

A perfect match means the selected products are a perfect fit for the answer, nothing could beat them. They will be much more likely to be shown in the advice if a customer gives this answer.

2. Overview

Overview is your dashboard for all things matching. On the left, it shows a ‘to do list’ of the questions and products that still need matching. It also features a helpful counter that gives an indication on how ‘product rich’ your guided selling app is.

The Start matching button takes you to the Bulk match tab, which will be filtered to show only the products that still need matching.

Or simply click on the amount of unmatched products for a specific answer to start matching those.

<aside> 💡 We recommend that you match every product to every answer. The goal is to have 0 unmatched products left for every answer — this ensures the best advice for all customers!

Meanwhile, the panel on the right shows the matching distribution for each question. It shows exactly how many products are either unmatched, or a bad, neutral, good or perfect match for each answer:

This quantitative overview can help you to roughly assess if the products in your catalogue are scored according to the expected distribution. For example: as an expert, you may know that your catalogue contains at least 3 ‘on ear’ headphones and 1 ‘over ear’ — meaning that these scores are looking good!

3. Match a single product
